Still powering its basic phone’s line, TracFone together with Samsung released its clamshell basic phone under the name of Samsung T245G. The phone’s main features are only on calling and messaging features. Therefore, don’t look forward to great features. In details, here is the review of the phone for your references.

Samsung T245G comes with a clamshell design with plastic material chassis. It feels small on hand measuring only 91 x 44 x 20 mm. It is also very light as it is weighing only 54 grams. Samsung T245G is equipped by not only one but two display; external display and internal display. The external display is very small measuring around 1 inch showing signal strength, battery life, date and time as well as incoming calls, messages and alarms. Above the external display is VGA camera lens. Flip open the phone to reveal its internal display, navigation array and alphanumerical keypad. The internal display comes with 1.52 inches TFT screen in 128 pixels resolution. Below the internal display is navigation array that consists of two soft keys, a Send key, a Clear key, an End or Power key and a square directional pad with central OK key. The alphanumerical keypad is arranged in a roomy space and well separated from each other. No physical keys appear around the phone’s side.

Keep in mind that Samsung T245G is not a smartphone; it is a basic phone with basic features as well. Therefore, don’t expect too much regarding its features. Those basic features that concern most from this phone are calling and messaging features. In term of calling feature, Samsung T245G runs on TracFone’s GSM network with pretty good reception and call quality. There is a web browser supports WAP web pages to give you internet experience. However, it works rather slow as it is only supported by GPRS data network. Other connectivity available is Bluetooth. Meanwhile, messaging features comes with Samsung T245G including text messaging (SMS) and messaging phone (MMS). You also get Instant Messaging (IM) and Email service but it is limited. Its roomy keypad made typing text comfortable and easy.

Coming to multimedia features, Samsung T245G gives poor performance. It has camera on the front side, but only features 0.3 megapixels VGA camera that is capable for capturing images at 640 x 480 pixels resolution. Some of camera features include White balance, Effects and Self-timer. Sadly, it cannot be functioned to record video. Other disappointment arises as it doesn’t feature music player as well.

The Phonebook can only save up to 200 contacts whereas each contact may consists of multiple phone numbers, email address, picture ID and ringtone ID. You may also assign contacts to caller group and speed dial. Notification types include Polyphonic ringtone, Vibrate mode, Flight mode, and Silent mode. It also features Organizer that comprises of Calendar, Alarm, Calculator, Tip calculator, Converter, World clock, Timer, and Stopwatch. Other features coming with Samsung T245G are speakerphone and voice recording. The battery life of Samsung T245G is quite powerful as it manages to last up to 5 hours of talk time or up to 8 days of standby time.
