Adding the Optimus smartphone’s line, LG released its midrange smaartphone namely LG Optimus Slider for Virgin Mobile. It offers a slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 inches capacitive touchscreen, 2 megapixels camera, 800 MHz processor, 512MB RAM, WiFi, GPS and many more. Implies from its name, LG Optimus Slider employs Optimus’s design with a candybar and a full touchscreen design plus a side-slider full QWERTY keyboard. Its QWERTY keyboard comes in landscape mode and arranged in four rows. Because of its slider QWERTY keyboard, Optimus Slider becomes bulkier and heavier than its non-sliding siblings measuring 115 x 59 x 15 mm and weighing 156 grams. The display on the front side features 3.2 inches capacitive touchscreen with 320 x 480 pixels resolution. Above the screen are four physical keys represent Home, Menu, Back and Search function. Around the phone’s side, there are 3.5mm headset jack, Power or Lock key, Volume control keys, charging port, and camera shutter. On the back, there are camera lens and speakerphone.

Optimus Slider is a smartphone running Android OS v2.3 (Gingerbread) with typical Android interface. Under the hood, it is powered by 800 MHz Qualcomm processor with 512 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM. It may not deliver superb performance but it decent and responsive enough to handle most common uses.

It also equipped with full WiFi feature that allows you to send emails, browse the web, and even check your friend's status message. Other connectivity includes Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP and HS, microUSB v2.0 and GPS navigation system.

LG Optimus Slider is also equipped by 3.2 megapixels camera with autofocus. Sadly, it doesn’t feature flash but manages to capture images up to 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution. It can also be functioned to record videos. For storage, Optimus Slider offers additional external memory via microSD card up to 32 GB along with 156 MB internal memory. The microSD card slot is located beneath the back phone's cover. In multimedia feature, there is a stock Android music player and video player. The music player manages to play music in MP3/WAV/eAAC+ formats. Meanwhile, the video player supports MP4/H.263/H.264 video formats.

Messaging features include SMS (threaded view), MMS, IM, Email, Push Mail, and RSS. Other features available are unlimited entries of Phonebook, SNS integration, Organizer, Document viewer with ThinkFree Office application, Voice memo/dial, Java MIDP emulator, Accelerometer, proximity sendor and speakerphone.
