Kyocera Presto, an Old-Fashioned Phone for MetroPCS

Dedicated for those senior citizen or those who wants simplicity of a phone, MetroPCS together with Kyocera released its phone under the name of Kyocera Presto. Its main concern is calling features along with other basic features. Closer look, here are the review and detail specification of Presto by Kyocera for your reference.

Kyocera Presto comes in an old-fashioned candybar phone with minimalist and simple design. It feels slim and very light on hand measuring 114 x 45.5 x 13.7 mm and weighing 76 grams. The display on the front side features 1.8 inches TFT screen with 256K colors supports and 128 x 160 pixels resolution. Below the screen are navigation array and alphanumerical keypad. Navigation array comes with two soft keys, a Speakerphone key, a Clear key, a Call key, an End key and a square toggle with central select key. Alphanumerical keypad is arranged in well-spaced keys and raised slightly above the surface. Around the phone side, there are microUSB port, headset jack, volume control keys, and shortcut key. The backside only features camera lens with no flash.

Although it comes in an old-fashioned design, Kyocera Presto is supported by Brew Mobile Platform (Brew MP) OS. Under the hood, Qualcomm processor powers Presto. Decent enough to delivers smooth and responsive on most common use features. Basically, Presto is designed to employ calling features as its main concern. Therefore, do not expect too much on its other basic features. In term of connectivity, Kyocera Presto operates on MetroPCS’s CDMA network and manages to hit CDMA2000 1xRTT up to 153 Kbps data connectivity. The web browser available supports WAP 2.0/xHTML web pages. Other connectivity includes Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP and EDR, and microUSB connection. Sadly, there is no stand-alone GPS navigation system.  For messaging features, Kyocera Presto offers text messaging (SMS), multimedia messaging (MMS), and email. Messaging features are likely to be a bit annoying experience due to its small dimension screen.

Coming to camera feature, Kyocera Presto is equipped by VGA camera with no autofocus and no flash. It manages to capture images up to 640 x 480 pixels resolution but the qualities are average mostly very poor. Unfortunately, it cannot be functioned as a camcorder. For storage, Presto only packs 67 MB internal memory. There is no microSD card slot available for storage expansion. Unluckily, Kyocera Presto delivers very poor multimedia features because there is no music player, no video player, and no radio.

It also comes with Phonebook that are able to save up to 500 entries whereas each entry comprises of multiple phone numbers, picture ID, ringtone ID and other related information. Notification alert types include Vibration mode and Polyphonic (64) ringtones. Other features of Kyocera Presto include alarm, calendar, calculator, voice memo, voice dialing speakerphone, and games. Supporting all of its features, Kyocera Presto packs standard battery Li-Ion 920 mAh. It is rated up to 3.3 hours of talk time or up to 8.3 days of standby time.
